This course introduces the history and philosophy of geography and the range of contemporary approaches.Ittrack geography’s emergence as a discrete academic discipline and consider some of the key philosophical ideas underpinning this history, it will be crucial to place theories, debates, sites and individuals within a larger canvas. The course interrogates what geographers study, what distinguishes geography from other academic disciplines, and familiarize ourselves with some of the most important people/scholars that have shaped the evolution of the discipline over time. Contemporary writers and researchers on different geographical themes will also be discussed.
