The course aims to equip students with current issues in Mother and Child Health e reproductive Nursing. It briefly revises the anatomy and physiology of the reproductive organs and the menstrual cycle, the various changes that occur at the different stages throughout the lifespan of the female. It focuses more on the promotion of a safe and healthy reproductive life including adolescent sexual life and reproductive health up to the post-menopausal period. Gender issues and health are also discussed. The course stresses on the causes of and strategies of reducing maternal, neonatal and child morbidity and mortality. It also critically examines the relevant international conventions, policies, protocols and legal instruments. In addition, the epidemiology, prevention, care and consequences of common diseases of infancy and childhood including the integrated management of childhood illnesses and immunization are also covered.
